PVC Corner Bead is a high-quality plastic profile used to reinforce and finish external corners in drywall, plaster, and stucco systems. Designed to provide clean lines, sharp angles, and long-lasting edge protection, it is widely used in both residential and commercial construction projects.
Made from durable polyvinyl chloride (PVC), this corner bead offers excellent resistance to moisture, corrosion, cracking, and temperature changes—making it ideal for interior and exterior wall finishing, especially in high-humidity environments.
PVC corner beads offer the same functional advantages as metal corner beads, with added benefits such as rust-proof performance, impact flexibility, and easier cutting and installation.
Material: Rigid or flexible Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Finish: Smooth or perforated (for better plaster bonding)
Color: Typically white, but available in other colors on request
Sizes: Common sizes include 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, and custom dimensions
Types of PVC Corner Beads We Offer
We provide over 30 different models of PVC corner beads, including:
Standard right-angle corner beads
Bullnose PVC corner beads (for soft, rounded corners)
Arch corner beads (for curved applications)
PVC corner beads with mesh (for strong bond with plaster)
Drip-edge corner beads (for exterior rain protection)
Beads with shadow line or reveal features
1. Drywall Installation
PVC corner beads are commonly used in drywall systems to create crisp, right-angle external corners. They are embedded into joint compound, making the corners stronger and less prone to chipping.
2. Cement Rendering
In cement-based plastering projects, PVC corner beads offer a durable and rust-free alternative to metal beads. They help form clean edges during the rendering process and improve the mechanical keying of plaster due to perforated flanges or attached mesh.
3. Stucco and EIFS Systems
PVC corner beads are widely used in Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) and traditional stucco systems, especially in regions with fluctuating climate conditions. UV-stabilized PVC can endure outdoor exposure without fading, cracking, or warping.
4. Gypsum Board Finishing
In interiors finished with gypsum boards, PVC corner beads form an essential part of the taping and jointing process. They provide a reliable base for compound application and help create sharp lines that stay smooth after painting.
5. Partition Wall Construction
PVC corner beads are ideal for lightweight partition walls, especially in fast-track commercial construction. They add rigidity to corners in systems built with drywall, gypsum board, or light steel frame.
6. Interior Decoration
PVC beads are used in decorative applications where corners need to be well-defined or softened (e.g., bullnose beads). They are also used in shadow line and reveal detailing to enhance visual aesthetics.
7. Exterior Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS)
PVC corner beads used in EIFS improve the weather resistance, drainage, and mechanical strength of external walls. Their non-corrosive nature makes them the preferred option in systems combining insulation panels and polymer-based render.
Installation Guide: Easy and Efficient
Installing PVC corner beads is simple and can be completed by professionals or skilled DIYers. The bead is embedded into the joint compound or plaster and becomes part of the wall surface after finishing.
Tools You’ll Need:
Measuring tape
Utility knife or PVC snips
Joint compound or plaster
6-inch joint knife or trowel
Sandpaper or sanding sponge
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1: Measure and Cut
Measure the height of the corner and cut the PVC bead to the required length using sharp snips or a utility knife. PVC is lightweight and easy to cut cleanly.
Step 2: Apply Plaster or Compound
Apply a generous coat of joint compound or plaster to the corner area using a trowel. For exterior stucco or cement rendering, apply the first base coat before placing the bead.
Step 3: Embed the Bead
Position the PVC corner bead on the corner, pressing it firmly into the wet compound. Make sure the edges are aligned with both wall surfaces and that the bead sits straight and flush.
Step 4: Apply Additional Compound
Use a joint knife to apply more compound over the bead, feathering the material 4–6 inches onto the wall surfaces. Smooth and level the compound with each pass to ensure an even surface.
Step 5: Let it Dry and Sand
Allow the compound to dry completely (typically 12–24 hours). Once dry, lightly sand any ridges or high spots for a perfectly smooth finish. Apply additional coats if needed.
1. Rust-Free and Corrosion-Resistant
Unlike metal beads, PVC corner beads never rust, making them the best choice for wet areas like bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and exterior walls.
2. Lightweight and Easy to Handle
PVC is significantly lighter than metal, reducing transport costs and improving on-site handling. Installers can easily cut and place PVC beads without heavy-duty tools.
3. Flexible and Impact-Resistant
PVC provides excellent resistance to denting and cracking during installation or wall movement. Its slight flexibility allows it to absorb minor building shifts and prevent edge damage.
4. Clean, Professional Finish
Helps achieve perfectly straight or rounded corners with minimal effort, resulting in a high-end finish that enhances the visual quality of any interior or exterior space.
5. Excellent Bond with Plaster or Stucco
Many PVC corner beads come with perforated flanges or fiberglass mesh, improving mechanical bonding with plaster and eliminating separation over time.
